Priceline and Great Fun - FRAUD ALERT

So this past week I rented a car for my husband through Priceline - a service I had used successfully in the past. I got a great deal but it turns out I also got some very slippery service at the same time. At the end of the transaction I was asked if I would like to get cash back - since I had used another program that offers cash back I thought I would check it out so I entered my email address and my transaction swooped me over to Great Fun welcoming me to my trial membership in their service. WTF??????? I never acknowledged it - I just screen captured it for the record. I let a few days pass and then I checked out the site - never logging in - and decided to call to cancel. Sure enough - this other site had all my personal information and was all set to start charging me a monthly fee. HOLY S*. WTF. I never agreed to this. I never accepted this. Its a darn good thing I called and cancelled because I then looked on complaints.com and found people had been getting charged for months without knowing they signed up. This is some serious fraud. So I went and left a nasty gram for Priceline and now I am blogging to let anyone who reads this to watch out when visiting Priceline. Don't accept anything from them or you may be setting yourself up for trouble. Argh - this just ticks me off!

Not only did I get hit by Priceline with this SCAM, I also got hit by Classmates.com with it as well. I've deleted all my info from both sites and instructed the companies to delete it as well. What a rip off - I hope somebody had told the Captain what his little company is doing!

I too got hit for $107.91 in charges of $11.99 a month since May 2008 after buying plane tickets online with priceline (last time I'll do that). I was going over my credit card bill at tax time and noticed the charges going back that far. I called to ask what this company was, what the charges were for and how to get it settled. They told me a pop-up ad offered me membership and I had accepted. The hell I did! After some haggling (one person canceled my "membership" but said he couldn't refund my money) I finally got a supervisor who I'm sure has heard a lot of this and she got rid of the charges (I think anyway, I'll see what happens on my next credit card bill). I also found out that Great Fun is part of a much larger company called TRILEGIANT. My question is...how in the hell are these jerks still in business? Below is a message from a person who was working there that I saw posted. It's sad that people have to work in situations like this for such sorry companies...times are hard these days and a job's a job, but it's still so very sad. Read on...

Hello everyone.... I hear these same complaints all day long.... All that I can say is that I am sorry. I am a Customer service Representative at a Great Fun Call Center. I haven't been working here very long, but I can tell you that as soon as I find another job I am G-O-N-E! There are many different ways to get signed up with a membership---ALL OF WHICH ARE DECIETFUL! You can go online and make a purchase with various different companies. ( Hotwire.com - Priceline.com - Avon.com - Deepdish.com - Orbitz.com - Fandango.com - CheapTickets.com - Adteractive.com - CustomDirect.com - TrueCredit.com - GreatFunSite.com and many many many many many many more. You can also sign up while making a purchase over the phone with a company called Advanced Interactive Science (batteries, and mousetraps are a few of the items that people call in thinking the charge is for. Two more companies that you can get signed up through on the phone is National Magazine Exchange and Fingerhut. The last way that you can ge signed up is through a check sent with billing statement. Participating Banks include: Bank of America, Chase, HSBC, CitiBank. These are only the ones that I can think of today....

To get a mailing suppression to stop the checks they give us an address that you have to write to and request it to be stopped... Here it is:

Mail Preference Service

C/O Direct Marketing Association

P.O. Box 9008

Farmingdale, NY 11735-9008

Our corporate office address is:

Westerville Support

Great Fun

P.O. Box 6100

Westerville, OH 43086

Put the letter to corporate in C/O Executive Support

I havecome to find out that alot of the discounts don't even work at the specified locations....

In my personal opinion it is a rip off but I have no other choice but to keep my mouth shut because it is a job. Until I finish school I will have to except what I can get.. In my general area jobs are really scarce. Great Fun ain't nothing but a Great Headache!

The phone number to reach a customer service agent that can help you is:

1-800-214-6422

Just to let you know Trilegiant is a LARGE company and there are different departments so if you see anything about TLG* call to find out what it is...

Yes I got hit with this scam from priceline them charging me 11.99 a month. I called the customer service and was very stern about getting my money back, he spoke to his supervisor and is sending me a refund. If you want your money back, be firm! If they say they can't refund, threaten them with an state attorney.

I totally feel you! Had the same experience just last month, and got duped by them in the exact same way!
My credit card was charged for $11.99 once, but luckily, I caught it when I was about to pay my bills online. Gave the customer service a call to cancel my account & got a snippy comment from the CSR for asking how she spells her name. I thought CSR aren't supposed to raise their voice to customers!! Was also told (by a 2nd CSR) that upon entering personal info (name, email address, zip code), it automatically gave this Great Fun jerks to retrieve credit card info from Priceline or whoever other vendor that's working with them. They've had a lot of complaints filed with the BBB, and was involved in some lawsuits because of their deceitful solicitation techniques. All in all, I was promised a refund of my membership fee within 2-3 weeks, and was informed that my acct has been cancelled. Word of advice: when you buy anything online, DON'T accept any additional offers of rebates, cash back, gifts, etc unless you're absolutely sure about the vendor you're dealing with & its quality. Always check your credit card statement because small unauthorized charges as this can go undetected for so long. Great Fun = Great Crap!

I'm joining the club...the DUPED club! I called them three months ago and told them I wanted out of this stupid thing, and they said, oh, no problem...We're going to credit your account with the 3 months membership of $11.00 each for Great Fun and Traveler's Advantage. Guess what? We haven't been using that account since we moved, but they are STILL CHARGING us. No refund, no nothing but LIES! We need an attorney for a class action lawsuit!

I bought $6,000 dollars worth of airline tickets and a car rental for two weeks with Priceline, only to find out on my return that I had somehow, without my knowledge, signed up for Greatfun. I will not be doing business with Priceline again, and I hope that getting 11.99 out of me was worth it for them. When I called Greatfun they tried to talk me into keeping my membership. Are you kidding? Why would I do business with a company I can't trust? Thanks for posting this on your blog. I had thought that calling them and getting a confirmation letter would be enough, but I will be watching me credit card bill carefully every month.

FRAUD!!! My mother passed away this month and was under Hospice Care..I found a $149.99 charge on her account from TLG: Great Fun!! When I called they said she had deposited a check in her account and that's how she signed up. As soon as I announced her attorney dealing with her estate will be contacting them for fraud, they immediately said they would refund. But, I had already cancelled the card. Now I will have to deal with that. How does this happen???????????????

Ahh. I've been charged by Priceline for months and months, mistaking the charge for one of my children's online games. This is so disgusting--Priceline should be busted.

I got hit with this crap and I didn't even purchase any tickets from Priceline. I don't know how this came about. Their CS Rep said, "You got a no-obligation 30 day free trial and after that you needed to call and cancel." I told him that the need* for me to call and cancel proves it is NOT "no-obligation."

I can't comment on ethics related to methods they use to get people to sign up, but I willingly signed up and the priceline 5% rebate program has worked very well. In the 24 months I've been a member I've received over $750 in rebates, easily paying for the $11.99/month membership cost.
